2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity

We are sending you this email to inform you of a summer undergraduate research opportunity for the undergraduate students (not graduate students) who participate in your NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship project. This opportunity will help your students understand how learners learn and gain educational research experience before your students start to teach in K-12 schools.  Non-Noyce undergraduates are also eligible to apply. 

The Department of Engineering Education at Utah State University will hold a ten-week summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program  

The central theme of the REU program is “Problem Solving in Engineering Education.” The program will be conducted in two phases: Phase 1 – Pre REU Site Program (May 15 – 26, 2023); and Phase 2 -REU Site Program (May 30 – July 21, 2023). Phases 1 consists of preparatory and foundational work that will be conducted at the participant’s own educational institution/home-base and through distance mentoring, Phase 2 will be conducted at USU campus in Logan and will be face-to-face. This REU Site program is carefully designed to offer opportunities for each REU participant to engage in authentic and funded research tasks, both individually and collaboratively, as well as an opportunity to gain experience in managing the team project deliverables.

 

Each REU student will receive up to $8,450, including 1) a stipend of $6,000, 2) a housing and meal allowance of $1,700, and 3) up to $750 for a round-trip airfare ticket to travel between their distant location and USU.

 

The applicants must be at least 18 years old by the time the program starts on May 15, 2023, must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States, must be an undergraduate student who will not graduate before September 1, 2023 (in either 4-year or 2-year schools) with a good academic standing in a professional undergraduate program in science, technology (including engineering technology), engineering, or mathematics.

Undergraduate Research Day April 13 2024 CALL FOR PROPOSALS

  Undergraduate Research Day applications are due   Wednesday March 6 th   2024.   CALL FOR PROPOSALS   UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH DAY will be Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.,   at the Thurman White Forum Building, 1704 Asp Avenue, University of Oklahoma.     What is URD?   • Undergraduate Research Day is an annual event for undergraduate students to present their research and creative works in a formal conference setting. OU students from all fields and disciplines are invited to participate! • Students will give presentations of 12-14 minutes in length, which can include visual or multimedia support.
